What do our treatments feel like?
All treatments are performed by our doctors (not beauticians), who have extensive specialist training in the use of this equipment. Our hand piece cools and soothes as it glides along your skin. When the pulse of light is delivered, some patients experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation; in most cases no local anaesthesia or pain medication is required. Some patients may however prefer to use a topical aesthetic cream when sensitive areas are treated.

How many treatments will I need?
Most areas of the body require 3-6 treatments, however the number of treatments required for optimal benefits depends on a number of factors which can be discussed further with our doctors. These include hair thickness, the area to be treated, and your hair’s growth cycle. An interesting fact is that not all hairs are actively growing at the same time, and actually go through three distinct phases: growth, regression, and resting. Our treatments work by disabling the hair that is principally in the active growth phase at the time of treatment. Since other hairs will enter this active growth stage at different times additional treatments may be required in order to disable all the hair follicles in a given area.

What happens after the treatment?
Immediately following your treatment the area may appear a bit red and swollen. Three to seven days after treatment you may also experience what appears to be a regrowth of hair. This is normally and is actually hair being shed as a result of your treatment rather than regrowth. Between treatments you should not wax or pluck your hair, but may shave if required.

Are there any possible side effects?
Although most patients experience few side effects, the most commonly noticed are slight redness and local swelling to the skin, similar to sunburn. These effects typically only last for a few hours or less. In rare circumstances blistering may occur. How does laser treatment compare with electrolysis?
Electrolysis is a tedious, invasive and painful process that involves inserting a needle into each individual hair follicle and delivering an electrical charge to them one by one. Electrolysis can often require years of treatments at regular intervals to be successful. By delivering light energy to hundreds of hair follicles at a time, our system effectively treats an area within seconds that would take over an hour with electrolysis.
